What is Doc-To-Help?
Here is a brief description of Doc-To-Help, the tool partially
used in AbaDoc. Doc-To-Help from WexTech
Systems, Inc. a commercially available tool which allows you to generate Windows-Help
from Microsoft Word Documents.
As AbaDoc is based on Version 2.0 of
D2H. Note that there is at least one major update available from WexTech, which
also supports HTML-Help. Version 2.0 does:
 | Inserts footnotes (#,$,K,+) and page breaks in RTF for Microsoft's Help Compiler |
 | Performs a lot of useful & necessary conversions (bullets, tables, etc.) for
RTF/WinHelp |
 | Table of contents: One global and one in each topic (list of subchapters;
"Down-Links") |
 | Provides a function for cross-links which is useful in Windows help (but of no
use in printed manuals which consist of more than one chapter file; see ...) |

Doc-To-Help also provides some other features, which were not
used at all in AbaDoc:
 | So-called "margin notes" for definitions; they can show up as popups in
the help file. (AbaDoc uses popups only for the glossary.) |
 | Sophisticated auto-index facilities, including an index target list. |
 | Cross References, using Word's "Insert Cross Reference" command |
 | Special formatting commands (Screen Shot, Special Bold) |
|
