How To Make A Convention Reality

  1. Write The Convention
  2. Sign the Convention
  3. Begin the Process of Ratifying the Convention
  4. Ratify the Convention
  5. Adjust the Mechanism/Structure of Your Country to Meet the Obligations of the Convention

Some Definitions

CONVENTION
An International Law, a "Soft Law". Not enforceable by International Sanctions.
TREATY
An Internationl Law "Hard Law" Legally Binding. Can be enforced by international sanctions if countries do not comply.
TO SIGN
The Leader of the Country signs the Convention. It means that they agree to the basic principles and will work towards RATIFYING.
TO RATIFY
The government agrees to adjust the structure/mechanism and even existing laws in order to comply with all the obligations of the Convention.
