Integration in MS Office '95 is poor: There is no easy way to transfer the current MS
Access record (an address) into a (new or current) letter in MS Word; without using
MergeMail. -- I don't think this is solved better in Version '97.
MS Word would start another Instance of MS Access for the DDE connection needed for
MergeMail on a Query. (If Access already running.)
The OLE Automation to Word '95 did not work as expected: Primarily Word started
automatically if not running already, BUT would remain in some hidden mode. (Meaning it's
window did not appear on screen or in the task-list, but WinWord.exe was visible in the
Task-Manager's Processes section.) Neither was it desired that Word closed immediately
when the object variable got out of scope.
Access often crashed (UAE) after the OLE Automation calls. -- Solution: The routines
which do Word remote control were rewritten using DDE instead OLE Automation.
Disadvantage: Among others, remote control by DDE instead OLE is much harder to debug.
