Tips: Avoid Graphical Bullets

NOTE: This issue is somewhat obsolete now that FrontPage 2000 supports CSS (Style Sheets) because it WILL use correct UL tags even with graphical bullets.

Did you ever look at the <HTML code> generated by Front Page for <UL> lists with graphical bullets as in all Themes?

Do you see the table,
nested table for the second & third level?

Well, now you understand the delay you can sometimes notice when displaying these nice pages in a browser. Parsing & displaying all these nested tables can take a moment, especially on slower machines. Don't forget that the entire body text is itself in another table if common borders are used. Then there is the overhead in HTML code and file size that all this adds.

For this reasons, it would be interesting to sometimes ask FrontPage not to replace <UL> <LI> by graphical bullets in themes. How can this be achieved?

Without extra tool, there does not seem to be a satisfying solution: Not using unordered lists anymore would be a pity. Or don't use themes anymore- that's a pity as well, because the automatic font formatting and banners and buttons might still be useful. BTW: The nice idea to set an empty path for a bullet in Theme Designer is rejected with "You must enter an image path".
